SAP Cloud ERP ByDesign speaks with Alexa voice control
We’ve been familiar with voice assistants as useful helpers in our homes for a while now. Playing music, saving appointments, setting an alarm clock – it all works virtually on demand. But opinions are divided on this technology as well. Do I really want the device listening to me every day at home? It’s a cost-benefit question and a subjective decision. However, the advantages of these voice assistants cannot be dismissed out of hand.
The digital assistant of SAP Business ByDesign
This is the next-generation user experience will be dominated by Natural Language Processing and digital assistants. With the future in mind, SAP Business ByDesign has these capabilities built-in.
SAP ByDesign digital assistant shows the integration openness and business application of ByD OData services. These building blocks basically include:
- ByDesign OData standard and custom services
- Alexa Skill: which calls the custom web service
- custom web service: which calls the ByD OData services
How could a example for a business scenario look like?
Let us assume your sales manager starts the day preparing for the sales meeting over breakfast and wants to know details about last quarter’s net sales and who the top three customers were in the last three months. The sales manager has access to an Alexa device and asks, „Alexa, ask ByD, what are the net sales for the last quarter?“ or „List the top 3 customers for the last three months?“ This gives your sales manager the metrics they need, allowing them to make sales decisions based on real-time analytical sales data in ByD. The Alexa assistant can also, for example, call customers directly from the contact data stored in ByD.
